Reports that Maurice Clemmons’ aunt works at Seattle U are false, officials say
The aunt of alleged police killer Maurice Clemmons is not affiliated with Seattle University as was reported in the Tacoma News Tribune Tuesday, university officials said today.
The News Tribune reported that Clemmons’ aunt, Chrisceda Clemmons, teaches at Seattle University. Chrisceda Clemmons’ home in Leschi was the scene of a standoff Sunday night and early Monday morning. But Seattle U media specialist Katie Gilliam and Jerry Huffman, assistant vice president of Human Resources, said Chrisceda Clemmons is not an employee of the university and never has been.
Chrisceda Clemmons’ name is not listed in the online faculty and staff directory or in the e-mail directory either.
Friends and family of Maurice Clemmons are being investigated for helping him evade police as they searched for him. Two men have already been charged.
Police said Maurice Clemmons had been at his aunt’s home near the intersection of Eerie Avenue and East Superior Street Sunday but likely left before police arrived and surrounded it for 11 hours.
