Attention All Garage Sale Lovers: Home Alive Needs Your Help This Saturday!

ll_homealive_fHome Alive, a Capital Hill-based women’s self-defense group, is in big trouble.

Established in response to the rape and murder of Gits singer Mia Zapata back in the early 1990’s, the organization has never been able to rake in tons of dough. Now, however, Home Alive’s Capital Hill office, located just blocks from Seattle U on 10th Ave., is doomed to close for good.

The organization is looking at $25,000 worth of debt. No longer able to support a paid staff, Home Alive canceled their women’s self defense classes this month.

How can you help?

Why, by purchasing that used desk you’ve always wanted, of course!

This Saturday, Feb 21st, Home Alive will be holding a fundraiser garage sale from 10a.m.-2p.m. at their studio:
1415 10th Avenue
upstairs, #3 (between Pike and Union)

All of their furniture has to go–their office space will be converted into a storage unit.

Home Alive has been brainstorming ways to stay afloat. While it looks like they won’t be on 10th any longer, your support at the garage sale might help keep them from vanishing entirely from Seattle.
